Samuelson Clinic Director and Student Testified Before the Copyright Office

Samuelson Clinic Director Deirdre Mulligan and Clinic student Aaron Perzanowski testified before the Copyright Office as part of its triennial DMCA Anti-Circumvention rulemaking proceeding. Mulligan and Perzanowski, joined by Clinic client Professor Ed Felten, argued in support of their proposed exemption to the DMCA, which would permit circumvention of access controls on Compact Discs if the protection measures employed create or exploit security vulnerabilities that threaten users’ computers or the integrity of the network generally.  read more »

Clinic's Electronic Voting Research Helped To Advance Election Integrity

Research conducted by Samuelson Clinic fellows and students played an important role in a groundbreaking audit just conducted in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, one of the country’s most troubled election jurisdictions.

Cuyahoga County experienced serious procedural and technical problems with the administration of its elections in both the 2004 and 2006 election cycles. In response to these problems, the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections commissioned a public monitor and a collaborative public audit led by the Cleveland State University’s Center for Election Integrity.  read more »
