Test Measures

Our main focus was on initial syllabus creation, editing topics and classes, adding readings, and moving classes and readings. We were unconcerned with speed, and our focus was more on whether or not our navigational cues were sufficient for the subjects to find the necessary pages to complete the task. We attempted to leave out the actual wording of the link when describing the task. We were also testing the intuitiveness of field grouping and the order of fields on the page. As none of our subjects were interviewed in our previous assignments, it also gave us an opportunity to find out more about their syllabus creation practices. We were also interested in how well the navigation matched with our subjectsÕ workflows. The reason we focused on these particular tasks is that they were identified as the most common and/or critical. As we are hoping for wide adoption of SylViA, we want to ensure that it supports existing practice rather than imposing new practices.
