Race - Incidence Rate

The graph below shows the 10 cancer types with the highest incidence rates from the dataset, including one for all cancer types, and is separated by race (White, Black, Hispanic, American Indian/Alaskan Native, and Asian/Pacific Islander). The races who typically have the highest incidence rates for cancers tend to be white and black.

We can see that there as been an overall decrease in incidence rate over time and although Black people started with the highest incidence rate in 1999, it is white people with the highest incidence rate by 2000 and they remain the grouo with the highest incidence rate for all cancers from 2000 to 2019.

The incidence rate can be interpreted as follows, using the example of black people in 1999 for all cancer types: For every 100,000 black people in the United States, around 511 black people were diagnosed with a form of cancer in 1999.

Race and Age - Incidence Rate

Cancer disparities can happen in certain population groups, according to the National Cancer Institute. The bar chart illustrates how incidence rate is broken down by race and age group.
