Gender - Mortality Rate

This graph shows cancer mortality rates (of all types of cancers combined) for each year by gender. We see an obvious decline in the age adjusted mortality rate between 1999 and 2019 for both genders. While the male mortality rate has consistently been higher than that of females, in recent years, the gap between the genders has been gradually closing. This could potentially be attributed to increased cancer screenings and public awareness.

An example interpretation of the data in this graph would be that in 2008, there were 149.3 cancer deaths for every 100,000 females in the population that year. n
